The Cornelius Ministry
Concord…A Church for Everyone
Saint Louis, Missouri
Overview
Concord Church in south St. Louis County seeks two part-time interns to assist in the development and implementation of an innovative, two-pronged ministry focusing on the training of service-minded disciples, while also creating opportunities for service activities in the St. Louis region and around the world. Students from accredited colleges, universities, and seminaries are invited to apply (preference given to upper-division undergraduate or first-year graduate students).
The Cornelius Ministry
Cornelius, the Gentile Captain of the Italian Guard in Caesarea, was told by an angel, “your daily prayers and neighborly acts have brought you to God’s attention” (Acts 10:31). In the same way, the development of the Cornelius Ministry at Concord Church will fulfill the church’s stated mission to “build relationships with unchurched people and lead all to become fully devoted followers of Christ” through community outreach, discipleship development, and service.
Qualities and Responsibilities
Cornelius Ministry interns will display an exceptional blend of spiritual maturity, strength of character, willingness to learn, leadership potential, and self-motivation in order to fulfill the demands of this unique opportunity. While the specific roles and responsibilities of each intern will be determined in consultation with the career/life goals of each intern—as well as the specific needs of the congregation and the Cornelius Ministry—one position will focus primarily on the development of discipleship in the church (through mentoring activities, small-group ministry, and special seminars), while the other intern will focus on the development of specific ministry activities in the community (and globally), while mobilizing ministry teams for ongoing outreach and service.
Application Process
Internship applications will be accepted until Auguest 1, 2010 for full consideration of 2010-2011 appointments. Internships will be twelve months in length, and will begin September 1, 2010 or as negotiated by the internship coordinator. Interns will work an average of 15-20 hours per week, and will receive a stipend of $10,000 for the year (no employee benefits will be available).
